Cash taken from armored truck near Texas grocery store; police hunt for suspects
Authorities are on the hunt for suspects following the theft of cash from an armored truck outside a grocery store in Texas on Tuesday afternoon.
The theft took place outside an H-E-B supermarket in Sugar Land, a city located near Houston, as reported by the Sugar Land Police Department.
One suspect escaped the scene in a vehicle, and a security guard “discharged at least two rounds at the vehicle, hitting it,” according to police. The authorities later found the vehicle involved.
Police have identified a person of interest and are asking the public for help in identifying a second suspect, as noted by Sugar Land Police Chief Mark Poland in a YSL News statement.
On Wednesday, police released a statement asking anyone who might recognize a man seen in surveillance footage to reach out with information.
No injuries were reported related to this incident, and the total amount of cash taken from the armored truck remains unclear.
“I’m relieved that neither the armored truck guard nor any civilians were harmed during this reckless event,” Poland stated.
According to the Sugar Land Police Department, the grocery store continued its operations post-incident. As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made.
