Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland Address Kamala Harris’ Houston Rally
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Kelly Rowland attended Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in Houston on Friday.
The two stars, former members of Destiny’s Child, were introduced by Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, as they entered to the tune of “Independent Women.”
“Welcome to this special and joyful day,” Rowland exclaimed at the rally. “This is a moment for Houston to reclaim the narrative from those who wish to create a story filled with division and hate.”
“This is a moment to take back the narrative from those promoting misogyny and racism,” she continued. “We are reclaiming the narrative from those who seek to deny women the right to make decisions about our own bodies.” Rowland urged everyone to “reclaim the narrative” with support for the Democratic candidates in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Rowland stated that she voted for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, the Governor of Minnesota.
Beyoncé highlighted the importance of voting, calling it a precious right and essential tool.
“I stand here as a mother,” she shared. “A mother who is deeply concerned about the world in which my children, as well as all our children, are growing up.”
“Your vote is one of the most important tools we possess, and we need you,” she stated. “Your freedom is your God-given right, your human right.”
Beyoncé, referencing her musical journey, encouraged the crowd to create a new story for America.
“It’s time for America to compose a new song,” she declared. “Our voices will unite in a melody of togetherness. They will sing a song of dignity and opportunity.”
