Bill Clinton Admitted to Hospital with Fever; Aide Reports He is ‘In Good Spirits’
WASHINGTON – Former President Bill Clinton is currently in a Washington hospital for “testing and observation” after he experienced a fever, according to his deputy chief of staff.
“He is in good spirits and is very grateful for the excellent care he is receiving,” said Angel Ureña, Clinton’s aide, in a post on X, previously known as Twitter. The 78-year-old former president is at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
Clinton was in office from 1993 to 2001 and has faced numerous health challenges since leaving the presidency. In 2021, he was hospitalized due to a urological infection that escalated into sepsis, a serious blood infection.
He had quadruple bypass heart surgery in 2004 after suffering from shortness of breath and chest pains. In 2005, he underwent surgery for a partially collapsed lung and in 2010, he had two stents placed in one of his coronary arteries.
During his presidency, Clinton had a hearing aid fitted and experienced issues with weight management, cholesterol, and blood pressure. By the end of his time in office, he had a cholesterol-lowering prescription and underwent surgery to remove a pre-cancerous lesion from his back.
Nevertheless, Clinton has publicly shared his journey towards better health through a vegan diet and other lifestyle changes.
This year, he actively supported Vice President Kamala Harris during her campaign, making appearances in important swing states. He humorously addressed his age and health during a speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August.
