Former Client Claims Unethical Behavior by Diddy’s Accusers’ Lawyer Tony Buzbee
The prominent attorney represents multiple accusers alleging sexual misconduct against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing several high-profile lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs, is now embroiled in fresh allegations of misconduct regarding his legal practices.
A former client of Buzbee, who is referred to as Jane Doe, claims the Texas attorney engaged in various forms of misconduct while serving as her divorce attorney, according to legal documents reviewed by YSL News. Allegations include legal malpractice, assault, and fraud.
Buzbee has responded strongly to these claims, asserting in an email to YSL News that the allegations are “completely false.”
Concerning her divorce, Doe alleges she was “denied” a fair settlement due to Buzbee’s “unethical conduct,” claiming he overlooked “his client’s legal rights during the divorce to safeguard his own interests.”
This lawsuit comes shortly after Buzbee faced a lawsuit from a well-known male celebrity, later identified as rapper Jay-Z, for alleged extortion. At that time, Buzbee labeled the complaint from the Roc Nation founder as a “bullying tactic” aimed at coercing him and undermining his clients.
Tony Buzbee Claims Latest Lawsuit Aims to ‘Discredit’ and ‘Intimidate’ Him
In light of the recent allegations, Buzbee stated that the lawsuit is part of a “scheme to undermine my credibility and intimidate me from pursuing my claims in the Diddy case.” He further alleged that Doe’s attorney demanded $20 million from him before proceeding with the lawsuit, threatening to damage his reputation.
“We will not passively tolerate this criminal behavior,” Buzbee stated. “We have reported this situation to the appropriate legal authorities and will pursue litigation against those responsible to end these outrageous actions once and for all.”
On Wednesday, the Buzbee Law Firm initiated a lawsuit against Roc Nation and Jay-Z’s legal team—consisting of lawyer Marcy Croft and the firm Quinn Emanuel— alleging they violated multiple Texas laws by allegedly offering financial incentives to one of Buzbee’s former clients in exchange for filing a lawsuit against his practice.
Besides these latest allegations, Buzbee is also involved in a lengthy legal conflict with Combs, who was arrested in September on serious charges, including racketeering, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, and solicitating prostitution. Buzbee disclosed in October that he represents over 100 individuals claiming to be victims of the controversial music mogul.
Jane Doe Claims Buzbee ‘Manipulated’ Her After a Romantic Encounter
In the lawsuit filed Thursday, Jane Doe states that her relationship with Buzbee commenced as a romance in 2018 when they met online. She alleges she traveled to Houston after Buzbee persuaded her to meet for a date, which led to an overnight stay at a luxury hotel where they engaged in sexual relations.
Following this encounter, Doe’s attorney asserts that she contracted an “incurable” sexually transmitted disease, which health professionals later confirmed as being contracted from Buzbee.
According to the complaint, Buzbee, aware of his health condition, instructed Doe not to disclose their encounter and offered her free legal services as compensation.
This arrangement allegedly led to Buzbee representing Doe in her divorce in 2021, but during the process, Buzbee’s actions are said to have included altering Doe’s medical records to suggest she had contracted the disease from her estranged husband in 2020.
Buzbee later sent a letter to her ex-husband attributing the infection to him; however, Doe’s ex-husband pursued their divorce proceedings without delay, according to the lawsuit.
Before the couple could enter mediation, the ex-husband sought information on Buzbee, which allegedly pressured the attorney to urge Doe to quickly settle the divorce to “prevent the exposure of documents that could reveal his fraud and his involvement in infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease.”
The settlement allegedly resulted in significant financial loss for Doe, and it included a clause preventing her from engaging in further legal action regarding the divorce.
According to the lawsuit, Buzbee was aware of the risk of transmitting the disease to Doe and, once that risk materialized, he manipulated the situation to protect his own reputation, leveraging his position as a licensed attorney.
Tony Buzbee Allegedly Assaulted Jane Doe in Bar Encounter
After the alleged sexual incident in 2018, Doe claims she continued to see Buzbee, according to her lawsuit. The lawyer Buzbee allegedly “became possessive of (Doe) in an effort to keep her close,” involving trips to Panama and New York City on his private jet.
According to the legal filing, one evening Buzbee met with Doe at a bar in New York City where she had been enjoying drinks with a friend. Upon arriving, Buzbee saw Doe talking to another customer, which reportedly triggered a “jealous rage” within him.
The complaint states that Buzbee reacted by shattering Doe’s glass against her face, leading to chipped front teeth. Doe chose not to report the incident because she “became fearful of what (Buzbee) would do if she ever spoke out against” him.
To address Buzbee’s alleged actions, the woman is seeking an unspecified amount of damages. She has also asked the court to either invalidate her divorce settlement or argue that Buzbee’s alleged malpractice has “deprived” her “of her right to a portion of the marital assets.”
Jay-Z’s lawyers contend Buzbee’s lawsuits against Diddy are part of a ‘campaign of widespread extortion’
Buzbee announced multiple civil lawsuits against Combs during an Oct. 1 press conference, revealing that 120 accusers were set to present claims of “violent sexual assault or rape,” “facilitated sex with a controlled substance,” “dissemination of video recordings,” and “sexual abuse of minors” in relation to the Grammy-winning rapper, among other charges.
The lawsuits involve 60 men and 60 women, with incidents dating back to 1991. Among the accusers, 25 were minors at the time of the alleged assaults by Combs.
Buzbee has since spearheaded a fresh wave of legal actions against Combs, including claims that the hip-hop mogul drugged and raped a 10-year-old boy, and assaulted a 13-year-old girl at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in the early 2000s. In a revised lawsuit submitted earlier this month, Jay-Z was named as a co-defendant in the alleged assault against the teen.
In reaction to the revised lawsuit, which Buzbee is also leading, Jay-Z labeled the filing a “blackmail attempt” and criticized Buzbee as a “fraud.”
In his extortion lawsuit filed in November, Jay-Z’s legal team asserted that these distressing claims are part of a “campaign of widespread extortion” aimed at high-profile individuals connected to Combs.
“Buzbee pretends to be standing up to power, but that is far from reality,” stated Jay-Z’s attorneys in the filing. “The defendants have created a new industry that exploits the courage of those victims who have come forward, in order to extort innocent celebrities, politicians, and business people through a multitude of masked accusers.”
Taking additional legal measures, Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro sent a letter to the presiding judge on Dec. 10, questioning the credibility of Buzbee’s firm by alleging that Buzbee and his team previously pressured a client to implicate Combs in their accusations.
In response, Buzbee told YSL News that the allegation was “patently ridiculous,” asserting, “we certainly don’t need to ‘pressure’ anyone to pursue a case because we already have more cases than we can handle.”
