David Gilmour Dismisses Pink Floyd Reunion Amid Ongoing Tensions with Roger Waters

David Gilmour firmly opposes a Pink Floyd reunion amid disputes with Roger Waters

David Gilmour has definitively stated that there will be “absolutely not” a reunion of Pink Floyd.

The guitarist of the iconic British rock band discussed his latest album “Luck and Strange” and the unusual dynamics with Pink Floyd’s bassist, Roger Waters, declaring in an interview with The Guardian that a collaboration with Waters is out of the question.

Gilmour expressed, “I generally keep away from individuals who openly support genocidal and authoritarian leaders like (Vladimir) Putin and (Nicolás) Maduro.”

He emphasized that nothing would persuade him to share a stage with someone who condones mistreatment of women and the LGBTQ+ community, while expressing a willingness to perform alongside the late Rick Wright, the band’s keyboardist, whom he remembered as “one of the kindest and most musically talented people I’ve ever encountered.”

YSL News has reached out to representatives for Waters for their response.

In February 2023, Waters seemingly intensified their ongoing feud. He mentioned in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung that he had re-recorded the legendary Pink Floyd album “The Dark Side of the Moon,” without any of the original bandmates. The interview, which was translated and published on his website, stated that the new version aims to reflect on the significance of the work and highlight the essence of the album.

Since Waters exited the band in 1985 following “The Final Cut,” a continuation of the hit album “The Wall,” their conflicts have persisted. Waters even sued the other members over their use of the band’s name but lost the case.

Tensions between the two musicians have escalated in recent years.

After reading Waters’ remarks in the German publication, Gilmour’s wife and Pink Floyd lyricist Polly Samson labeled Waters as antisemitic and described him as “a Putin supporter, a deceitful, thieving, hypocritical, tax-evading, lip-synching, misogynistic, envious megalomaniac.”

Gilmour backed his wife’s views, stating on X, “Every word is demonstrably true.”
