Deion Sanders Sets Boundaries for Son Shedeur’s NFL Future

Deion Sanders mentions NFL teams that son Shedeur is not allowed to join

Coach Deion Sanders of Colorado made it clear that he would step in if his son, quarterback Shedeur, is drafted by a team he disapproves of, mentioning there are “a couple of teams that I won’t allow him to play for.”

Sanders made this statement during an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show on Friday, where he was promoting the latest season of his “Coach Prime” documentary series which launched that week.

He kept the names of those teams to himself.

When Hall asked, “Have you told him privately who you would like for him to play for?” Sanders responded, “It’s not like that. It’s not about who I want him to play for. It’s about a couple of teams that I won’t permit him to join. I understand the behind-the-scenes aspects of this industry, and I know what’s not suitable for my son. I’m simply not allowing it.”

Hall probed further, “And if he doesn’t listen to you?”

Sanders humorously replied, “Who?” leading to laughter from the audience. “You must mean (NFL team) owners, not my son.”

Previously, Sanders hinted at the same concern, suggesting Shedeur might follow “an Eli” approach if he finds himself unhappy with the team that drafts him—referring to quarterback Eli Manning’s decision not to play for the San Diego Chargers after being selected by them in the 2004 draft.

This year, Shedeur Sanders is expected to be one of the top picks in the NFL draft scheduled for April.

The Tennessee Titans hold the first draft pick, with the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, and New England Patriots following. Shedeur expressed content with the draft order on his recent podcast.

“Whatever happens, happens,” he stated. “I trust that God will place me with the right team.”

Before the Alamo Bowl against BYU on December 28, some cleats in Giants colors were spotted near Shedeur’s locker and circulated on social media.

<p”He’s got some Tennessee cleats too,” Sanders mentioned to Hall. “And some Raiders cleats. He has cleats in every color.”

“You mentioned if the wrong team selects him, that you will…” Hall began, only for Sanders to finish her thought.

“Intervene,” he echoed.

He went on to explain his stance.

“I’m not going to let my son fall into any nonsense,” he declared.
