Donald Trump Poised to Earn Time Magazine’s Person of the Year Honor: Sources Reveal

Donald Trump set to be named Person of the Year by Time magazine, report says

According to Politico, Time magazine is likely to honor Donald Trump as its Person of the Year this week.

The announcement is scheduled for Thursday morning on their website.

Trump’s resurgence in politics, following two impeachments, four criminal charges, his loss in the 2020 election, and briefly inciting a riot at the U.S. Capitol, marks a significant chapter in American political history.

Additionally, he survived two assassination attempts, one of which involved a bullet that grazed his ear and resulted in the death of a spectator at a rally in Pennsylvania.

He has made history by becoming the first former president to regain the presidency after losing a reelection bid since Grover Cleveland in 1892. Furthermore, he is the oldest person to take office and the first individual convicted of a felony to achieve this position.

Trump’s election victory is also significant due to the shifts it has caused within the political landscape, seeing improved support from younger and Hispanic voters.

He plans to celebrate this honor by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday and revealing the magazine cover, as reported by Politico from three sources.

Previously, Trump was named Time’s Person of the Year in 2016 after his initial election win. Time has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the 2024 selection.

This week, Time released its shortlist for Person of the Year, including Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Kate Middleton, Elon Musk, and Benjamin Netanyahu. Recently, the magazine named basketball player Caitlin Clark as Athlete of the Year on Tuesday.

In 2023, pop star Taylor Swift received the title of Person of the Year.
