Why the Eagles Aren’t Dressed in Green for Brazil Match Against Packers
Passionate fans of sports teams often find numerous ways to express their dislike for rival teams.
Reasons for this rivalry can include geographical proximity, track records, or even specific players, all of which can ignite a fan’s fervor.
Some fans even focus on the colors of the opposing teams.
This brings us to an exciting NFL matchup on Friday night featuring the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles, taking place at NeoQuimica Arena in São Paulo, Brazil.
The local soccer club, Corinthians, who regularly plays at NeoQuimica Arena, has a strong aversion to the color green, stemming from a historic rivalry with Palmeiras.
The NFL, possibly aware of this animosity, scheduled the game at this venue regardless.
Players donning green in this match could face penalties. This rule also extends to sponsors, who must steer clear of using the color in any promotional materials.
Since the Eagles are considered the home team, they will be sporting black helmets, white jerseys, and black pants, a color scheme that aligns with Corinthians. This marks the first time the Eagles will wear this particular uniform combination.
The Packers, on the other hand, will be in their familiar white, yellow, and green uniforms, having little say in their outfit choice.
As reported by the Associated Press, a memo indicated that green is designated solely for the visiting team, which is the Packers in this instance.
