Viewers respond to Jenn Tran’s intense finale on ‘The Bachelorette’: ‘This is so cruel’
<p”The Bachelor franchise has a history of promising intense moments, and they claimed that the finale of “The Bachelorette” Season 21 would be the most shocking yet.
Based on viewers’ impressions, they may very well have been right this time.
During Tuesday night’s “After the Final Rose” segment, audiences witnessed the conclusion of lead Jenn Tran’s journey, who is also the show’s first Asian American lead.
Jenn selected Devin, a 28-year-old freight company owner from Houston, over 32-year-old veteran Marcus. However, before the engagement was shown, Devin and Jenn faced questions together. Jenn mentioned that Devin had many doubts while filming and continued to have them afterward, adding that he ended their engagement over a phone call.
Next, host Jesse Palmer played footage of Jenn proposing to Devin, along with his proposal in return, while Jenn watched alongside an emotional studio audience.
The Bachelor fan community was quite unhappy.
Viewers criticize the network for making Jenn Tran relive the engagement
Many viewers expressed frustration about Jenn having to revisit those painful moments shortly after a tough conversation with Devin.
One viewer felt compelled to draft a reaction in notes, sharing a screenshot on X.
“It’s not entertaining to watch someone in such deep pain that they can hardly breathe,” the post stated. “It’s neither funny nor cute to force them to relive what they just described as the worst day of their lives in front of a live audience and with the person who caused that pain.”
However, fans noted this isn’t the first time the audience witnessed a proposal followed by a breakup before the finale. Rachel Recchia got engaged to Tino Franco at her season’s conclusion, but they split after filming due to a cheating scandal, yet fans still witnessed the proposal during the “After the Final Rose” episode.
Maria Georgas draws attention once more
In another surprising twist during the tense chat between Devin and Jenn, he revealed that he followed Maria Georgas on social media the day after ending the engagement. Georgas was a popular contestant on Joey Graziadei’s season of “The Bachelor” and was also a candidate to become the Bachelorette.
“I can’t justify the Instagram follow; I understand how much that hurt you,” Devin admitted. “Clearly, I let you down, and there’s nothing I can say to change that.”
