Ford Issues Recall for Over 270,000 Broncos and Mavericks Due to Battery Issues

Ford recalls over 270,000 Broncos and Mavericks due to possible battery issues

Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 270,000 vehicles due to a potential problem with the battery that may result in a loss of power, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

A notice filed with the NHTSA on Friday reveals that the recall involves 272,817 Bronco and Maverick models equipped with 12-volt batteries sourced from the Chinese manufacturer, Camel Battery.

The batteries in the affected vehicles could fail internally, leading to a decrease in performance while driving. This can cause a full battery failure, affecting electric features like hazard lights, and it may lead to a loss of driving capability or prevent the vehicle from restarting after stopping or when idling at low speeds.

Such a loss poses an increased risk of crashes and injuries. Currently, Ford has no reports of accidents, fires, or injuries linked to this battery problem.

Which vehicles are part of the Ford recall?

  • 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport SUVs
  • 2022-2023 Maverick pickup trucks

What should you do if your vehicle is recalled?

Owners of the affected vehicles should take them to the nearest Ford dealership, where the 12-volt battery will be inspected and replaced for free if needed. Official notifications will be mailed out by February 3.

Additionally, owners can reach out to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 regarding recall number 25S02. Vehicles previously fixed under recall 24V-267 will also require the new remedy to be completed.
