Hyundai Issues Recall for More Than 225,000 Cars Due to Faulty Rearview Cameras: Affected Models Listed
Hyundai is recalling over 225,000 vehicles due to issues with rearview cameras potentially failing.
The recall affects six different cars within the Santa Fe and Elantra model lines, as announced by the automaker on November 21 and made public by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday.
The NHTSA recall notification states, “A rearview camera that is not functioning will limit visibility while reversing, raising the risk of harm to pedestrians.”
Owners of the affected vehicles can visit a dealership to have their cameras replaced. The company plans to inform owners via mail if their cars are included in the recall.
Details of the Hyundai Recall
The NHTSA has identified the following models that may have defective rearview cameras:
- 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe
- 2021-2022 Hyundai Elantra
- 2022-2022 Hyundai Elantra N
- 2021-2022 Hyundai Elantra HEV
- 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe HEV
- 2022-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe PHV
The cameras in these recalled vehicles might have been manufactured with too few solder joints on the printed circuit board, a flaw that could deteriorate over time.
