For travel from January 17 through 21, round-trip tickets from Fort Lauderdale to D.C. cost $293, which is 130% above the normal rate. For the same dates, flights from Phoenix are priced at $748 and from Dallas at $473, representing a 115% increase from the average.

The surge of attendees for Inauguration Day is also driving up hotel prices for the weekend, according to Hopper. The average nightly rate for a hotel in Washington, D.C. on inauguration night is around $730, though some rooms can be found for as low as $392.

A recent search using the Hotels.com app showed room rates ranging from $700 to $1,600 per night from January 19 to 21, while rates for the following weekend are generally between $200 and $500 per night – an increase of up to 700%.

Those wishing to stay closer to the White House or in upscale accommodations can expect to pay a premium. For instance, the renowned Watergate Hotel, located just a mile from the White House, has a rate of $2,036 per night.
