‘I want more babies,’ JD Vance states at the March for Life

On Friday, Vice President JD Vance addressed anti-abortion supporters at the annual March for Life in Washington, expressing that the nation has let down its people.

“We have failed a generation, not just by allowing a culture that supports abortion on demand, but also by ignoring the need to assist young parents in obtaining what they need to lead fulfilling and joyful lives,” he stated.

He commented that a “culture of extreme individualism” has caused people to see the “responsibilities and joys” of family life as burdens.

“Our society hasn’t acknowledged the duty one generation holds towards another, which is essential for a thriving community,” he remarked. “So to put it plainly, I want to see more babies being born in the United States.”

Vance, who previously served as a senator from Ohio, has proposed increasing the Child Tax Credit from $2,000 to $5,000 for each child to alleviate the financial burden of raising kids.

According to People magazine, Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have three young children: Ewan, who is 7, Vivek, aged 4, and Mirabel, who is currently 2 years old. Mirabel gained attention during the inauguration for her bandaged fingers.

Vance took the oath earlier this week

JD Vance was sworn in on Monday as the 50th vice president of the United States, marking a swift political ascent from his humble beginnings in Ohio to being just a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Living in Cincinnati and originally from Middletown, Vance took the oath of office alongside President Donald Trump at the U.S. Capitol, with his wife, children, and mother by his side. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh administered the oath; Kavanaugh had previously employed Vance’s wife, Usha, when serving on the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Vance placed his hand on a Bible that belonged to his great-grandmother, which she gifted him when he enlisted in the Marines in 2003. He wore a custom navy blue Italian suit tailored for the inauguration by his longtime tailor in a Cincinnati suburb.

“Thank you so much for making this happen,” Vance expressed in brief comments at the Capitol following the oath-taking. “We appreciate you. We wouldn’t be here without your support, and together we will strive to make America great again over the next four years.”

Vance is the author of ‘Hillbilly Elegy’

After the inauguration, Trump acknowledged Vance’s upward mobility and stated that the only person smarter than him is his wife, Usha.

“He faced some tough opposition and managed it impressively,” Trump remarked.

Vance’s swearing-in occurred just two years after he took office as a U.S. senator for Ohio. Once a critical voice against Trump, the “Hillbilly Elegy” author retracted his previous statements and became a key figure in the president’s inner circle. As vice president, Vance is anticipated to advocate for Trump’s policies and act as a defender when necessary.
