The wait is officially over: the Sexiest Man of 2024 has been revealed.

John Krasinski has been crowned People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2024. The announcement was made on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” during a special appearance by Krasinski on Tuesday night.

After pretending to be shocked at not winning the title himself, Colbert, along with the 45-year-old Krasinski—who is known for his role as Jack Ryan in “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”—shared a humorous instructional video featuring a six-step guide to how Krasinski earned the “sexiest man” title. This parody clip showcased the pair in vibrant ’80s workout outfits and included Chris Evans, the 2022 Sexiest Man Alive.

Krasinski shared his wife Emily Blunt’s reaction when he told her about the title, recalling, “She was laughing so much on the other end of the phone it was tough to get the words across.”

When asked how this new recognition might change his family life with Blunt and their daughters, Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8, Krasinski joked with People magazine, “I suspect this will mean I have to do more chores around the house, but I’m okay with that. I can deal with the downsides if it comes with the benefits.”

Krasinski quipped, “Once that magazine cover comes out, I can already picture Blunt saying, ‘Okay, you need to step up your game at home now.'”

The versatile artist, who has written and directed the touching comedy “IF” and both “A Quiet Place” films, takes over the title from Patrick Dempsey, the beloved “McDreamy” from “Grey’s Anatomy,” who held the title last year.

People magazine has held an annual tradition of naming the Sexiest Man Alive since 1985, starting with Mel Gibson. The only exception was in 1993 when Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford were honored as the Sexiest Couple Alive, and no title was awarded in 1994.

Before the announcement, People magazine highlighted Benny Blanco and the cast of “New Girl” in its special issue dedicated to the Sexiest Man Alive.
