Joshua Jackson’s ‘lovely’ childhood home lost to wildfires in Los Angeles
Joshua Jackson’s Los Angeles home, where he grew up, has been destroyed in the ongoing wildfires affecting the city.
Jackson’s spokesperson, Dominique Appel, confirmed via email to YSL News on Sunday that the actor’s residence in Topanga Canyon was lost in the blaze over the weekend.
“Most importantly, everyone close to me who has been impacted by the fire is safe,” Jackson noted in the statement. “My daughter, family, and neighbors all evacuated without harm.”
Jackson has a 4-year-old daughter named Juno Rose Diana with actress and estranged spouse Jodie Turner-Smith.
Since Tuesday, six separate fires have ignited in Los Angeles, causing extensive damage to neighborhoods. As of Sunday, three of the fires were still raging, with the Santa Ana winds expected to increase in intensity through Wednesday, potentially reaching speeds of 30-50 mph.
According to LA County Sheriff Robert Luna, 14 fatalities have been reported so far. However, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office updated the death toll to 16 by Saturday night. Additionally, approximately 105,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate their homes.
The actor, who hails from Vancouver, Canada, spent his early years in Topanga before moving away at the age of 8. He acquired his childhood home back in 2001 and shared his thoughts about the experience with Mr Porter in July 2021, saying: “My father unfortunately wasn’t a good father or husband and left our family, but that house in Topanga represented a time when life was uncomplicated. Buying it was a very therapeutic experience for me.”
The home was also a dispute in his ongoing divorce from Turner-Smith. She claimed in a December 2024 filing that Jackson stated the property was solely his, despite her allegedly contributing $800,000 towards its down payment.
According to the filing, Jackson reportedly asked Turner-Smith to vacate their shared home after their separation in September 2023. Since then, she has been residing in various rental properties in Los Angeles, Vancouver, and London.
The star of “Doctor Odyssey” is among numerous celebrities whose homes have been lost or they have been displaced due to these wildfires. Other high-profile figures affected include Paris Hilton, James Woods, Cameron Mathison, Billy Crystal, and Tina Knowles.
“Unfortunately, my beautiful home did not withstand the fires,” Jackson expressed in conclusion. “However, I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by my loved ones today.”
