Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars unveil new single ‘Die with a Smile’
The universe is aligning.
On Thursday, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars announced their upcoming collaboration, a single titled “Die with a Smile.”
In her Instagram post, Gaga expressed excitement, saying, “While you wait till LG7… ‘DIE WITH A SMILE’ a duet with @brunomars ❤️🔥.” She also revealed that the song and music video will drop at 9pm PT tonight. LG7 refers to her seventh studio album, which will be her first since “Chromatica” was released in 2020; however, no title or release date has been shared yet.
Gaga humorously referred to herself as “Lady Mars” in an Instagram Story to celebrate the partnership.
The two artists had previously hinted at the release with mysterious posts showcasing themselves in each other’s merchandise.
The cover art for the single features Gaga and Mars standing together in fashionable red and blue outfits that draw inspiration from Western and 1960s styles. Mars sports an ivory cowboy hat and a gold belt buckle, while Gaga is seen holding a cigarette.
Fans of both artists have been eagerly anticipating new music. Gaga’s Little Monsters were entertained recently by the HBO concert film “Gaga Chromatica Ball,” which captures her 2022 tour. Mars last released an album in collaboration with Anderson .Paak in 2021, titled “An Evening with Silk Sonic,” which included the hit single “Leave the Door Open,” earning them four Grammy Awards.
Mars’ most recent solo project was his Grammy-winning album “24K Magic,” released in 2016.
On her end, Gaga has been keeping fans updated with teaser photos and videos from her time in the studio.
During the premiere of “Gaga Chromatica Ball,” she mentioned, “I have written so many songs. I’ve been producing so many songs, and it’s nothing like anything I’ve ever made before. I love to break genre, and I love to explore music, and it’s beautiful to know that you will be loved no matter what you do.”
In addition to her music, Gaga wowed audiences with a French cabaret-inspired performance of Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon Truc En Plumes” at the Paris Olympics last month. She is also set to appear in the upcoming film “Joker: Folie à Deux,” releasing on October 4, where she plays Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker.
This summer, Gaga made a comeback with her Las Vegas jazz residency, performing a few shows in June and July at Park MGM’s Dolby Live.
