The Detroit Lions have faced several injuries to key players this season, and unfortunately, another player was lost during their recent playoff game against the Washington Commanders.
Cornerback Amik Robertson, who had a strong performance against Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson in the last game, left the match after an arm collision with teammate Jack Campbell.
As reported by NFL Media, Robertson has broken his humerus and had surgery on Saturday night.
Robertson was engaged in a play against Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin on a second-and-4 at the Washington 26-yard line when Campbell came in to assist and accidentally struck Robertson’s arm with his shoulder, resulting in both players falling to the ground and injuring Robertson’s arm.
Update on Amik Robertson’s injury
NFL.com initially reported that Robertson was taken to a hospital in the Detroit area for further assessment after his injury. He is anticipated to be ready for offseason training sessions.
Robertson was down on the field for a while before the Lions’ medical staff arrived. He eventually managed to walk off the field on his own, albeit with assistance to stabilize his arm.
The Lions reported that Robertson was initially questionable to return due to an elbow injury but was later declared out for the remainder of the game.
Kindle Vildor stepped in to replace Robertson following the injury.
