Mel Gibson Commends Trump’s Visit to California Amid Wildfires: ‘It’s Like Daddy’s Here’
Mel Gibson expressed that President Donald Trump’s arrival in Los Angeles, in response to the wildfire relief efforts, felt “like daddy has arrived.”
The actor from “Daddy’s Home 2” made these remarks during an interview on FOX News’ “Hannity” hosted by Sean Hannity on Friday.
“I’m glad Trump is here right now,” Gibson remarked. “It’s like daddy shows up and he’s ready to get serious, you know? So, I expect he’ll bring about some changes soon.”
Trump was welcomed by California Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday as he surveyed the damage caused by the wildfires that have affected parts of Southern California. Recently, Trump has criticized Newsom—whom he often refers to as “Newscum”—for his administration’s management of the wildfire emergency.
Gibson’s reference to “daddy” arose when Hannity asked about the severity of the situation.
When Hannity noted that the situation must be “frustrating” for Californians, Gibson responded that his neighbors are “a solid group.”
Gibson remarked, “You meet many people who have lost their homes. You share stories and support each other, and everyone is trying to stay positive. They’re a resilient bunch out here.”
Donald Trump Earlier Appointed Mel Gibson as ‘Special Ambassador’ to Hollywood
On January 16, Trump posted on the social platform Truth Social to announce Gibson as a “special ambassador” to Hollywood, along with other conservative actors, Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone.
“It is my privilege to designate Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as Special Ambassadors to a wonderful yet troubled place, Hollywood, California,” Trump shared on Thursday. “They will act as my Special Envoys to help restore Hollywood, which has lost significant business over the past four years to foreign countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER!”
He added, “These incredibly talented individuals will be my eyes and ears, and I will implement their suggestions. We will once again see, just like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”
In a statement to YSL News, Gibson mentioned that he “saw the tweet at the same time as all of you and was equally surprised. Nevertheless, I accept the role. It’s my duty as a citizen to provide any assistance and insight I can.”
“Any chance this role includes an Ambassador’s residence?” Gibson humorously inquired.
