‘It’s on’: Mike Tyson and Jake Paul reunite to promote their upcoming fight

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul faced off again in New York City during a press conference on Sunday to promote their fight scheduled for November. Following a health scare in May, Tyson assured fans that he is ready to step back into the ring.

“It’s happening,” Tyson confirmed when asked about the fight slated for November 15 in Arlington, Texas. “We’re all set. I’m ready. I had a little setback with my health, but I’m feeling great now.”

This event took place at the Fanatics Fest in the Javits Center, marking Tyson’s first return to promotional activities since he experienced an ulcer flare-up while traveling on May 26, which required medical treatment. The fight had originally been planned for July 20 but was delayed so Tyson could recuperate and get back to training. He mentioned he has been training for “two to three weeks” since being cleared by doctors.

“I’m feeling great,” Tyson added, showcasing his signature charisma.

At 58, Tyson is 31 years older than Paul, who took on the role of the antagonist during the press conference. Given Tyson’s roots in Brownsville, Brooklyn, he was clearly the audience’s favorite. When Paul began to speak, the crowd at Javits Center booed him, prompting a defensive response from the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

“Hey, New York, shut the (expletive) up!” Paul shouted back. “Boo yourselves! You’re just like Mike Tyson, you were only good 20 years ago!”

Paul kept the crowd riled up, promising to knock Tyson out. He even compared himself to Muhammad Ali and claimed he was in it for the money. Despite criticism labeling the upcoming fight as a mere exhibition, Paul insisted that it represents a vital progression in his boxing path.

“There are many big names out there wanting to fight me,” Paul stated. “I’m still aiming for (super middleweight undisputed champion) Canelo Álvarez, and I’m committed to achieving a world championship. When it happens, people will realize, ‘(Expletive), that kid knew something we didn’t know.'”
