New developments in Marilyn Manson investigation, according to LA DA
Recently uncovered information has surfaced in the Marilyn Manson case, in which the rock musician faces accusations of sexual misconduct from various women, as reported by prosecutors.
George Gascón, the District Attorney for Los Angeles County, announced on Wednesday that his office’s sex crimes unit is “thoroughly examining new leads and evidence that have come to light” stemming from an investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department concerning Manson, whose given name is Brian Warner.
“We have received new evidence in recent weeks, which adds to the already extensive case file provided to us by the LASD,” Gascón stated. “It’s our duty to have a complete understanding of the relevant evidence before making any legal decisions.”
Gascón mentioned that he and his senior staff have met with the individuals who have accused Manson, and emphasized that “our prosecutors are in ongoing communication with the victims and their representatives throughout the investigation.”
YSL News has contacted Manson’s lawyer for a statement. Manson claimed in a 2021 announcement, “All my intimate relationships have been fully consensual with partners who were equally open-minded. No matter how or why others have chosen to reinterpret our past, that is the reality.”
Over the past few years, Manson has faced multiple accusations of abuse, which he vehemently denies. In February 2021, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed they were “investigating allegations of domestic violence involving” the artist, noting that the “incidents occurred between 2009 and 2011” during his time in West Hollywood. Authorities executed a search warrant at Manson’s residence in November 2021.
By September 2022, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department concluded its 19-month investigation into Manson and submitted the findings to Gascón for potential charges, as detailed by the Los Angeles Times. Gascón’s statement on Wednesday indicated that his office “plans to make a filing decision shortly.”
Manson has been targeted by lawsuits from various accusers, including Esmé Bianco, known for her role in “Game of Thrones,” who accused him of sexual assault. Manson and Bianco reached a financial agreement in 2023. A separate lawsuit from Manson’s former personal assistant, Ashley Walters, alleging sexual misconduct is set to be tried in 2025, per Rolling Stone. Additionally, Ashley Morgan Smithline, another accuser, withdrew her claims against Manson last year.
Evan Rachel Wood, who starred in “Westworld,” also stepped forward on Instagram in February 2021, claiming that Manson, her former fiancé, “began grooming me in my teenage years and subjected me to horrific abuse over several years.” She elaborated on her allegations in the 2022 HBO documentary “Phoenix Rising.” Just before the documentary’s release, Manson filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood, parts of which were dismissed last year.
