Barack Obama Makes Surprise Visit to Team USA at Solheim Cup
Barack Obama, the former President, received an enthusiastic reception when he unexpectedly showed up to support Team USA as they began their matches against Europe on the opening day of the Solheim Cup in Gainesville, Virginia.
The Solheim Cup is a prestigious event held every two years, featuring the top female golfers from the United States and Europe. The tournament commenced on Friday morning and will continue through the singles round on Sunday. Team USA is aiming for its first victory since 2017.
Under the leadership of captain Stacy Lewis, Team USA includes star players like Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson, Allisen Corpuz, and Rose Zhang.
Obama, an avid golf enthusiast, regularly played the game while in office. He is a member of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, the venue for this year’s Solheim Cup.
Previously, Obama had surprised the team during a dinner on Monday.
On Friday morning, the American team won the Foursomes (alternate shot) portion of the event with a score of 3-1. However, they still have an afternoon session, two sessions on Saturday, and a final singles match on Sunday to go.
