Passenger Causes Chaos on United Airlines Flight by Kicking Seat and Breaking Tray Table

Video captures ‘disruptive’ passenger kicking seat and breaking tray on United Airlines flight

A disruptive passenger on a United Airlines flight heading to Los Angeles displayed aggressive behavior by damaging a plastic tray and kicking a seat repeatedly, prompting intervention from fellow travelers.

This incident occurred aboard United Airlines Flight 502, traveling from Austin, Texas to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Nov. 16, with 76 passengers and five crew members present, as stated by the airline in a message to YSL News.

Footage from another passenger shows the man standing on a seat while incessantly kicking the back of a seat and destroying the tray table.

Gino Galofaro, who filmed the outbreak, informed L.A. TV station KABC that he and other passengers had to step in to subdue the man after noticing “the flight attendant walk by and do nothing.”

“I recorded that video quickly, while observing the flight attendant do nothing,” Galofaro shared with KABC. “Nobody else on the plane was taking action. So, I stood up to restrain him, and two other passengers went to get zip ties from the flight attendant.”

“We managed to restrain him with zip ties and then secured him to his seat with a seat belt,” he added.

According to Galofaro, the turmoil arose when the flight was about 40 minutes away from arriving at LAX.

Passenger prohibited from flying with United Airlines

In their statement on Wednesday, United Airlines reported that “law enforcement met” the flight upon landing at LAX “after a customer became unruly.”

They expressed gratitude to the crew for effectively managing the situation and ensuring everyone’s safety.

Although the airline did not disclose the passenger’s identity or the reason behind the disruption, they confirmed that the individual has been banned from future travels on United flights.

Previously, a man on a United Airlines flight from San Francisco International Airport to Washington Dulles International Airport was reported to have physically assaulted a sleeping passenger “without warning.” The accused, named Everett Chad Nelson, now faces felony charges for repeatedly punching the sleeping passenger “in the face and head until blood was drawn.”

The victim, whose identity remains unknown, “sustained bruises on his eyes and a cut on his nose” from the incident, as stated in an affidavit by the FBI filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
