Eaton and Palisades Fires: Preliminary Damage Maps Available from Los Angeles County
LOS ANGELES − Damage evaluations are currently taking place throughout Los Angeles as wildfires persist across the region for the sixth consecutive day.
These fires have resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 16 individuals and have displaced over 100,000 residents under evacuation orders, with an additional 87,000 advised to prepare for possible evacuation. As of Sunday, nearly 40,000 acres have been engulfed by the flames, as reported by CalFire.
On Saturday, Los Angeles County released initial damage maps pertaining to the Eaton and Palisades fires, enabling residents to check if their properties have suffered any fire damage.
The map pages caution that damage evaluations are still being conducted, indicating that the maps are not fully comprehensive but are revised every day.
According to CalFire, at least 1,213 buildings have been destroyed in the Eaton Fire, while the Palisades Fire has claimed at least 604 buildings. As of Sunday afternoon, the Eaton Fire is 27% contained, and the Palisades Fire is only 11% contained.
