Prince Harry brings joy as he visits the UK for a children’s charity event
LONDON — On Monday, Prince Harry made his way back to the UK for a charity event dedicated to seriously ill children, appearing cheerful and engaging with the kids.
“Congratulations to all you amazing kids. I salute you!” a smiling Harry exclaimed during his speech at the WellChild charity’s annual awards ceremony, which takes place in London. He serves as a patron for this organization.
“The WellChild Awards is always a source of inspiration for me,” the prince noted. “Hearing the stories of these young individuals who face significant challenges yet continue to show incredible strength is a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit.”
The younger son of King Charles is often in the public eye even after stepping away from royal responsibilities. Recently, the attention on the Duke of Sussex has intensified following his 40th birthday and a round of public appearances.
Just last week, he was in New York, where he urged governments to partner more with young people, highlighting the risks children face online and calling out social media leaders for lacking action to safeguard them.
He also made an appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” where he was humorously featured yelling and swearing while navigating a scary maze with host Jimmy Fallon.
Since relocating to California with his wife Meghan in 2020, Harry has returned to the UK only sporadically. His relationship with the royal family, particularly with his father and brother Prince William, remains strained.
It is unclear if he intends to meet any family members during this trip, as his spokesperson did not provide comments on the matter.
His most recent visit to the UK was in May for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, but King Charles was unable to see him due to obligations related to his cancer treatment.
Harry is currently pursuing legal action against the UK government regarding the security arrangements for him and his family during visits, expressing concerns for the safety of his wife Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
