San Antonio Mother of Four Disappears After Domestic Dispute on October 6th

A mother from San Antonio went missing after a fight with her husband on Oct. 6.

A mother of four from Texas has been missing for almost three weeks following a confrontation with her husband, who investigators describe as unhelpful in the case.

Officials in the San Antonio area have been searching for Suzanne Clark Simpson, a real estate agent last seen outside her residence in Olmos Park on October 6, with her being reported missing the following day.

“We are extremely worried,” Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas stated during a press briefing earlier this month.

A neighbor witnessed an argument that turned physical between Simpson and her husband, Brad, after they returned from a party on October 6. This was detailed in an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by KSAT-TV, which also mentioned that screams were heard shortly after the altercation.

“We are heartbroken about my sister’s disappearance,” Teresa Clark, Simpson’s sister, shared with WOAI-TV. “We will continue searching and won’t stop until she is found. Suzanne was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, and was cherished by the San Antonio community.”

She emphasized the family’s determination to find Simpson, stating, “She has a vast family and community support because we are committed to bringing her home.”

Here are the important details regarding the case.

Husband and business associate arrested as search efforts go on

During the ongoing search for Simpson, her husband, Brad Simpson, and his business partner, James Vallee Cotter, were taken into custody. The arrest affidavit cited Brad Simpson’s uncooperativeness with investigators and his absence from a follow-up interview.

Reports reveal that Brad Simpson seemed to be distancing himself from family and was staying at a ranch in Bandera County. He was arrested on October 9, just days after his wife was last seen, according to the Austin American Statesman, part of the YSL News Network.

He faces charges that include unlawful restraint, assault causing bodily injury to a family member, possession of a prohibited weapon, and tampering with evidence. Additionally, a federal complaint alleges he possessed an unregistered rifle.

The Department of Public Safety also announced the arrest of his business partner, James Vallee Cotter, who was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, with no attorney listed for him. According to the arrest affidavit, Cotter hid an AK-47 in his wall at Brad Simpson’s request.

Defense attorney criticizes charges against husband

Steven Gilmore, the court-appointed lawyer for Brad Simpson, did not respond to inquiries from YSL News.

In a recent interview with the San Antonio Express-News, Gilmore declared the charges against Brad Simpson “absurd,” asserting that the case serves to keep him in custody without due process.

“It’s ridiculous for him to be held on a $2 million bond for misdemeanor charges that the state has no intention of pursuing,” Gilmore claimed. “They’re avoiding filing these charges to prevent the activation of his legal rights, which would compel a prompt trial.”

Gilmore noted that Brad Simpson is currently in administrative segregation and spends at least 23 hours a day confined to his cell, planning to plead not guilty to the allegations against him.

“This situation is shocking for him and his family,” Gilmore added.

Search efforts by police include landfills and other locations

Authorities have searched various sites, including a landfill and local basins, but have not found any leads.

Chief Villegas described Simpson’s sudden disappearance as “very unusual.”

“Suzanne is recognized as a dedicated and loving individual, particularly towards her children and in her career. She has not gone to work or reached out to her children,” he reported.

Simpson, who is a realtor at Nix Realty Company, actively participated in her children’s school and sports activities, as noted in an online biography referenced by the Statesman. Her children range from ages 5 to 20.

Her children and family are still hopeful for her safe return, as Clark shared her thoughts with WOAI-TV.

“This situation is critical because moms don’t just disappear without a reason,” Clark noted. “Children rely the most on their mothers, and that’s why we’ve managed to mobilize so much community support to find Suzanne—a woman who was a beloved mother and an extraordinary person with a gentle spirit.”

The public is encouraged to contact the Olmos Park Police Department at 210-822-2000 with any information that may assist in the case.
