Selena Gomez Opens Up About Fertility Challenges: “I Believe in Honesty”

Selena Gomez responds to criticism after revealing she can’t have children: ‘I value honesty’

Selena Gomez is opening up about her health challenges amidst ongoing “medical issues.”

The star of “Only Murders in the Building” shared her well-known health battles during a Women in Film dinner, seated alongside her younger sister, Gracie.

“I believe there’s strength in being open about when you need help,” Gomez shared during the event, as captured by fans on X.

“Yes, I told you all that I can’t carry a child and I also mentioned my bipolar condition,” Gomez added.

While others applauded her honesty, the “It Ain’t Me” singer reminded everyone that she hasn’t got everything figured out.

“I strive to be an advocate for women, which is why I share my experiences,” Gomez explained. “I want to be truthful because everyone faces challenges. I can only be myself.”

Selena Gomez discusses childbirth, mental health, and Lupus

Gomez has been open about her significant health challenges for nearly a decade.

In 2015, she disclosed her lupus diagnosis in an interview with Billboard, where she also revealed undergoing chemotherapy. Two years later, in 2017, she received a kidney transplant from her friend and fellow actress, Francia Raisa.

In 2022, a documentary titled “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me” was released by Apple, showcasing her mental health struggles and her complex journey with fame. Earlier this month, she shared with Vanity Fair that she cannot carry a child due to medical complications.

“This is something I’ve never disclosed before,” Gomez revealed to VF. “I can’t carry my own children, and there are various medical conditions that would endanger both my life and the child’s. It was something I had to come to terms with.”

Selena Gomez is officially a billionaire

Despite facing criticism, Bloomberg reported earlier this month that Gomez achieved something exceptional.

The founder of Rare Beauty, aged 32, is now a billionaire according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, boasting an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion due to the success of her beauty line. Gomez has built her fortune at a young age, becoming one of Hollywood’s youngest billionaires after gaining fame from her role in Disney Channel’s “The Wizards of Waverly Place.”
