Snow is Everywhere! All 50 States in the US Experience Snow.
Thanks to last week’s unprecedented snowstorm in the Gulf Coast, a remarkable event occurred: Every state in the U.S. has reported accumulating snow this winter.
The storm’s intensity resulted in another surprising outcome, with some Southern cities receiving more snowfall than their Northern counterparts.
According to meteorologist Chris Dolce from weather.com, “Official snow totals recorded in Lafayette and New Orleans, Louisiana; Mobile, Alabama; and Pensacola, Florida, surpass the snowfall amounts seen in New York City, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Omaha, Nebraska; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota since the fall.”
Hawaii isn’t missing out on the snowfall either, although it’s not unusual. The Mauna Kea summit on the Big Island experienced its first snowfall in late October, as snow is a yearly occurrence at this mountain, which stands over 13,000 feet high, Dolce noted.
Dolce also pointed out that while snow covering the ground simultaneously in all states is a rare feat, it has happened before, including back in February 2010.
