Sydney Sweeney shares her go-to rom-com, favorite jeans, and current music playlist

Sydney Sweeney is all about simplicity.

Known for her roles in “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” the Emmy-nominated actress shines in both critically acclaimed shows and blockbuster movies, but in her daily life, you’re much more likely to see the 27-year-old dressed casually in a white T-shirt and overalls, perhaps busy with hands-on work fixing up a vintage car.

“I love talking about cars. I’m a huge enthusiast and always wear overalls, which has kind of become my signature look,” Sweeney expresses with enthusiasm while in North Carolina, where she is currently filming a biopic about boxer Christy Martin (“an amazing experience”).

She talks about her current music favorites, the jeans she can’t live without, and the rom-com that inspired her 2023 film “Anyone But You.”

What’s on Sydney Sweeney’s playlist?

Just as Taylor Swift has her Eras tour, Sweeney has different playlists for each character she portrays.

“I create separate playlists for all my roles. Each project has its own unique vibe,” she explains.

“When I start a project, I usually stop listening to all my regular music, but I’m really into Tate McRae and Chappell Roan lately. I’ve also always been a huge Billie Eilish fan. If you check my Instagram, I use Lana Del Rey songs for most of my Reels. So I definitely love Lana.”

Sweeney also reveals her preferred music streaming platform: “I’m a Spotify person.”

Essentials for Sydney Sweeney on set

No matter the filming location or setup, Sweeney seeks comfort on set.

“I always ensure my trailer includes my essentials. I keep my fridge filled with Bai drinks, especially my favorites,” says Sweeney, who is partnered with the beverage company for its WonderWater drink line (she enjoys the “pilavo pineapple mango and of course, raspberry lemon lime”).

“I always have an ice roller for my face to reduce puffiness. I also bring a little speaker,” she adds. “I love cozy blankets and pillows, so I always have those and some string lights to make my space feel warm.”

However, she aims to keep her work and home life distinct.

“I try to keep a clear boundary between my work and home life. I don’t take my characters home with me. I believe it’s important for a healthy process. When I get home, I hang out with my dog, Tank. We enjoy some food, maybe catch some TV, and I work on my lines for the following day.”

Sydney Sweeney’s favorite romantic comedy is a classic from Julia Roberts, inspiring the cast of ‘Anyone But You’

Sweeney’s romantic comedy film with Glen Powell, “Anyone But You,” has rejuvenated interest in the genre, but she remains fond of the queen of rom-coms for her ultimate favorite film.

“Absolutely ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding.’ I’m such a fan of Julia Roberts; it’s just a fantastic movie. Cameron Diaz’s character also had me laughing a lot. That’s definitely one of my all-time favorites,” Sweeney shares.

This beloved 1997 movie was a source of inspiration for the casting of “Anyone But You.” The film includes a return from “Wedding” actor Dermot Mulroney, showcasing a fresh take on the genre.

“When we were deciding on who should play my dad in ‘Anyone But You,’ I kept suggesting, ‘What if we get Dermot? That would be fantastic.’ I was thrilled when Dermot agreed to be a part of it,” she recalls.

Comfort watching includes this long-running series

For some cozy time on the couch, Sweeney enjoys watching the dedicated detectives of the Special Victims Unit.

“I’ve watched every episode multiple times,” she admits about NBC’s long-standing procedural “Law and Order: SVU.” She has a special fondness for Seasons 8-10, noting, “Those were the most iconic seasons for the cast. I believe those are among the best, even though I still enjoy the newer ones too.”

Similar to Mariska Hargitay’s character Olivia Benson, Sweeney has a soft spot for Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni. “I’ve always been a fan of Stabler, and I’ve even followed the spinoff focused on him,” she mentions, referring to “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

Fashionista Sydney Sweeney loves simple styles: Her specific white T-shirt and jeans outfit

Sweeney has established herself as a fashion icon, collaborating with brands such as Miu Miu and Tory Burch, and frequently appearing on best-dressed lists. Yet in her daily life, she often opts for a timeless outfit choice.

“I’m definitely a white, plain T-shirt girl. I wear various brands depending on the mood I’m in,” she explains. “I have my Levi’s and Cotton On white T-shirts which I pair with casual jeans. I really like Levi’s, Frame, and Agolde for jeans.”

As she prepares to portray Martin in an upcoming biopic, her wardrobe has seen some adjustments.

“Since June, I’ve mostly been in workout clothes for my role preparation; I can hardly remember wearing anything else now.”
