Fans of Taylor Swift rush to purchase limited-edition ‘Lover’ vinyl records
To kick off the new year, Taylor Swift fans got a special treat with the drop of a new vinyl merchandise collection.
At 9:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday, Swift’s promotional team, Taylor Nation, alerted its 3.3 million followers with a simple tweet featuring just one emoji: “💘.” This heart symbol hinted at a release of a vinyl for $39.99 (which totals $57 with tax and shipping).
Just an hour and a half later, the account tweeted: “Attention all who keep their Christmas lights up until January! The special edition heart-shaped ‘Lover (Live From Paris)’ vinyl is available for 72 hours or until supplies run out! Grab one for yourself or a loved one at http://store.taylorswift.com.”
In September 2019, Swift performed a private concert for 2,000 fans in Paris. She was originally scheduled to host four stadium concerts labeled “Lover Fest” in Boston and Los Angeles that summer, but those shows were canceled due to the pandemic.
The two newly released heart-shaped records mark the third release of the “Lover” concert on vinyl. The first was launched through Republic Records on May 19, 2020, and a limited-edition version was re-released exclusively on her website on February 14, 2023. These vinyl records are in high demand, with some listings on eBay exceeding $1,100.
Additionally, in May 2020, Swift released a 42-minute special on Disney+.
During this special, she performed eight acoustic tracks from her seventh studio album:
- “Me!”
- “The Archer”
- “Death by a Thousand Cuts”
- “Cornelia Street”
- “The Man”
- “Daylight”
- “You Need to Calm Down”
- “Lover”
On Tuesday, some fans reported that after adding the vinyl to their carts, they had to wait for 11 minutes. According to her website, these albums would be on sale until Friday at 11:59 am ET or until they sold out, with a limit of four albums per customer.
By 12 p.m. CT, the “Lover (Live From Paris)” vinyls had already sold out.
