Three Players Ejected Following Brawl in Mavericks vs. Suns Game

The NBA always delivers excitement, and Friday night’s matchup was no exception.

A confrontation on the court involving players from the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns resulted in several ejections during the second half.

The Mavericks were leading 60-44 with just over nine minutes remaining in the third quarter when the incident occurred.

Here’s a summary of the events from Friday night:

Ejections Following the Mavericks-Suns Altercation

Mavericks forwards Naji Marshall and P.J. Washington were both ejected due to their involvement in the brawl. Additionally, Suns center Jusuf Nurkić was dismissed for his actions during the fracas.

Details of the Mavericks-Suns Confrontation

Nurkić received a call for an offensive foul after he hooked Mavericks center Daniel Gafford during a move in the post.

Following that, Nurkić approached Marshall and sparked the altercation by hitting him on the head. Marshall quickly responded by throwing a punch at Nurkić.

Washington then got involved by pushing Nurkić to the ground.

The situation calmed down after that, leading to the ejections of the involved players.

In the end, the Mavericks secured a 98-89 victory.

Star player Kyrie Irving mentioned afterward that he would take responsibility for any fines incurred by Marshall and Washington.

“That’s just part of basketball sometimes,” Irving noted about the incident, adding: “Haven’t seen that in a while. Maybe that’s how we’re wrapping up 2024, with someone actually swinging in the NBA.”

Irving jokingly added, “Maybe that’ll boost our ratings.”
