Watch as the distressed Texas cat with a cup stuck on its head is rescued and named Jar Jar
Officers in Palmhurst, Texas, aided Jar Jar earlier this month when the distressed cat was struggling in the heat, unable to see. They emphasized that ‘immediate action was necessary.’
A Texas cat found itself in a troublesome predicament earlier this month, getting its head stuck inside a cup.
Local police received a call to assist the cat after it was spotted wandering down the street in extreme heat with the cup still on its head in Palmhurst, located in far southern Texas.
“It’s uncertain how long this poor cat had been suffering in such heat and unable to see, but immediate action was crucial,” stated the Palmhurst Police Department in a Facebook update regarding the incident on August 1.
Body cam recordings revealed that the cat was frightened and would jump away from the officers when they approached. At one point, it dashed into the street. Luckily, one of the officers figured out a solution to help the cat.
After the rescue, the department quickly decided on a fitting name for the furry friend: Jar Jar.
Watch: Officers assist a kitty stuck with a cup on its head
The Palmhurst Police officers immediately sprang into action, trying to approach the cat without startling it. Initially, the cat leaped away from the officers, but finally came to a stop when it felt trapped.
“Do you want to grab it, or should I?” asked one officer.
One officer managed to get close enough to reach for the cup, but the cat jumped away before they could remove it. They decided to try again, this time attempting to cover the frightened feline with a bright yellow vest to prevent it from wriggling free.
The officer who successfully managed to wrap the cat then approached another colleague, who attempted to remove the cup once more. Unfortunately, this attempt also failed.
Eventually, the officers decided to set the cat down and carefully hold it still, allowing them to successfully dislodge the cup from its head. They kept the cat wrapped in the vest, giving it some air and a chance to enjoy a can of cat food.
