Follow the Journey of the Rockefeller Christmas Tree to NYC: Where It Comes From
On Thursday, a crowd gathered in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, to witness and celebrate the cutting down of the Rockefeller Christmas Tree.
People dressed as elves sang Christmas carols while the impressive 74-foot tall, 11-ton Norway Spruce was readied for its iconic display in New York City.
According to WBZ, the lead gardener explained he chose this specific tree back in 2020.
“I discovered this tree while looking at another one in July 2020, and I knocked on the door to request a donation. They were excited, and over the years, I made sure to feed and water it during spring,” said gardener Erik Pauze in an interview with Spectrum News.
The Tree’s Journey to NYC Has Begun
West Stockbridge, where the tree originated, is about 140 miles away from New York City.
This marks the first time a tree from Massachusetts has been used since 1959, and it is scheduled to arrive at Center Plaza on Saturday.
The lighting ceremony for the tree is planned for Wednesday, December 4.
