The Michigan State Police confirmed that the incident occurred on the road adjacent to the girl’s home in Allen Township.
The toddler was hit along U.S. Highway 12 in a small area of Hillsdale County, as stated by the police on social media platform X.

Troopers reported that the parents had put the toddler to bed before she left the house
The girl was taken to a local hospital, where she sadly did not survive, as reported by the troopers.
Initial investigations indicated that after being put to bed by her parents, the little girl got out of bed and wandered outside while her parents tended to tasks around the house.
Somehow, she made her way onto the roadway and was struck by a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 38-year-old resident of the town.
The identity of the child has not been released by the authorities.
