Tragic Outcry: Four Lives Lost in Birmingham Mass Shooting

‘Grieving-type screaming’: 4 dead in mass shooting in Birmingham, Alabama

In Birmingham, Alabama, a shooting spree on Saturday night left at least four people dead and many more injured in a busy entertainment area.

According to Officer Truman Fitzgerald, the victims included two men and a woman who lost their lives at the scene, with a fourth person succumbing to injuries later at a hospital. Many injured individuals were treated at hospitals, while some made their own way there, Fitzgerald explained.

Fitzgerald noted that it appeared that multiple shooters targeted the crowd, but authorities were unsure if they were on foot or in vehicles. The shooting seems to have been intentional rather than random, with ongoing efforts to find out who the intended targets were. Currently, no suspects have been arrested.

“We will do everything possible to find and hold accountable those who harmed our community,” he declared.

$5,000 reward offered for help in finding killers

Fitzgerald has called on anyone who witnessed the shooting in the Five Points South district to come forward with information. He mentioned that tips that lead to arrests might earn a reward of up to $5,000.

“The community is our greatest ally. If you were here and noticed anything unusual, we ask that you contact us,” he urged.

Authorities stated that the ATF and FBI have joined in the investigation efforts.

“The prevalence of mass shootings relates more to cultural issues than straightforward criminal behavior,” Fitzgerald remarked. “Too many disputes are being resolved with gunfire.”

Witness hears chilling cries

Dajon Singleton shared with WBMA-TV that he was entering the area when he encountered the pandemonium and emergency services on the streets as people fled in fear. He recounted seeing several individuals being transported on stretchers.

“It was devastating, truly heartbreaking,” he said. “The sounds of mourning were unmistakable. At that moment, it was clear to me that someone had lost a loved one.”
