Trump’s Potential Victory: A Reflection on the Challenges Facing the Democratic Party

Opinion: Trump Could Win This Election. What Does That Indicate for the Democratic Party?

How poor do you need to be to lose to Donald Trump? Kamala Harris and Tim Walz may soon illustrate this.

If Democrats aren’t feeling anxious yet, it might be time to start. The initial excitement around Kamala Harris has faded away.

In six out of seven pivotal states, former President Donald Trump currently holds a slim lead according to the polls. A recent NBC News survey shows Trump and Harris tied in the national voting figures.

With just three weeks until Election Day, one thing is evident: Trump may really have a chance to win.

A win for Trump would pose numerous questions for Republicans. He is an evidently deficient candidate who does not embody true conservatism.

However, it would lead to even more inquiries for Democrats. How could they have lost to a candidate so uniquely unfavorable?

Democrats Made Poor Choices – Twice

If Trump emerges victorious in this election, it will highlight the Democrats’ failure in selecting a nominee and communicating their party’s ideals. It would mean they opted for incompetent candidates not once, but twice this year. How humiliating.

President Joe Biden narrowly won the 2020 election by 7 million votes. Since then, his physical and mental health have noticeably declined. Supporting him as the Democratic nominee earlier this year was not only ill-advised but also unethical.

The Democratic Party was aware of Biden’s poor health and hoped that it would go unnoticed. A June debate against Trump illustrated his deterioration.

Democrats then quickly replaced Biden with his vice president, disregarding the fact that she hadn’t won a single primary, that their combined popularity ratings were plummeting, and that her political views are considerably more radical than Biden’s.

It was either choose Harris or stick with Biden, whom Democrats feared might suffer a massive defeat.

Extremism in the Democratic Party

According to Democrats and the media, the GOP is full of extremist individuals. There are indeed some fringe elements on the right. However, far-left radicals have also carved out a place in the Democratic Party.

Over the last few decades, the Democratic Party has aligned itself with radical left ideas. If Trump wins reelection, it will serve as another indicator that a significant portion of the country is rejecting such progressive approaches.

Harris’ economic strategies focus on increased government handouts and intervention. What other candidate suggests giving away billions of taxpayer dollars for first-time home purchase down payments? Even the Obama administration didn’t propose that.

Harris and her running mate’s social policies are equally concerning: As governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz enacted laws that allow virtually unrestricted abortions, established Minnesota as a sanctuary state for transgender youth, and broadened access to driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.

While political deception is common, Harris and Walz have elevated it to unprecedented heights.

A Trump victory could expose that voters, even those who typically lean Democrat, are weary of the party’s extreme positions. It may also indicate that voters might not endorse identity politics as much as the Democratic Party desires.

A GOP Trifecta on the Horizon

Republicans could potentially emerge from this election very strong, possibly controlling not only the White House but also both chambers of Congress. They seem poised to secure a win in the Senate.

Control of the House appears uncertain currently, but the GOP may retain their majority after Election Day.

If they achieve a Republican majority in the Senate, Trump could implement substantial reforms and terminate Biden’s agenda that has negatively impacted Americans.

Trump could also extend his tax cuts set to expire, revoke Biden’s executive decisions related to an extensive student loan forgiveness initiative, and re-establish federal enforcement on immigration and border security.

Trump Appears to Be an Easy Target

Out of all the candidates the Republicans could have selected, one might assume that Democrats should easily outmatch Trump. In fact, it should be embarrassingly simple.

Trump is a childish, egotistical figure who values power over his love for his country. He’s a dishonest misogynist who clings to his defiance of political mores. He’s a fraud who has alarmingly captured a portion of the Republican base. His speeches often devolve into irrelevant ramblings. He refuses to seek counsel, acknowledge his errors, or make genuine efforts to improve himself.

Nonetheless, I maintain that conservative policies generally benefit Americans. Indeed, they are so effective that even Democrats like former President Bill Clinton have championed them.

If Trump secures a victory, it won’t be due to an exceptional campaign on his part. Instead, it will highlight how weak the Democratic Party−its candidates and policies−truly are.

Should Trump manage to implement some reasonable conservative policies during his term, aided by a Republican majority in the Senate, it would represent a significant improvement over the last four years. Some adjustments might help steer America toward a more positive path.

Trump’s triumph on Election Day would reveal the fragility of the Democratic Party in America.
