YG Detained on DUI Charges, Vows to Fight Accusations

Rapper YG detained on DUI charges, intends to fight the claims

The rapper YG was taken into custody on DUI suspicions after he reportedly drove his vehicle over a curb in the Los Angeles area, as per police reports.

Police noted that around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, they saw a red Lamborghini which seemed to have hit a curb and stopped on a grassy area at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Keystone Street, according to a Burbank Police spokesperson speaking to YSL News.

The 34-year-old artist, whose real name is Keenon Dequan Jackson, was alone in the car and did not appear to have any injuries from the incident, as stated by Sgt. Stephen Turner. There were no additional vehicles involved.

“When approached, Mr. Jackson exhibited clear signs of being under the influence of alcohol,” the statement specified. “Officers carried out a DUI investigation, during which Mr. Jackson was arrested and taken to Burbank PD Jail, where he was booked for DUI.”

TMZ was the first to break this story.

Reports from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department indicate that YG was charged with a misdemeanor after noon and subsequently released two hours later.

YG’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, informed YSL News that his client “plans to contest the claims, which are simply accusations.”

He went on to assert, “It’s apparent that YG is being unfairly targeted by certain law enforcement officials, and we will address this.”

In August, YG released his latest album, “Just Re’d Up 3,” which includes features from artists like Saweetie, Ty Dolla $ign, and Babyface Ray.

The rapper, originally from Compton and now residing in Santa Monica, was arrested at his home in the Los Angeles area when police executed a search warrant in January 2020. He was under suspicion for a robbery that took place in 2018, but the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office chose not to pursue charges against him due to insufficient evidence, as reported by TMZ in 2022.
