AGT Makes a Shocking Comeback with Daring Acts That Win Sofía Vergara’s Golden Buzzer!

‘AGT’ is back with thrilling stunts that earn Sofía Vergara’s Golden Buzzer

The 2024 summer Olympics have concluded, but incredible human feats continue on “America’s Got Talent.”

The NBC talent show made its return on Tuesday night after a brief three-week hiatus, showcasing 11 standout acts from a pool of 44. Featured performers included fearless acrobats from Tanzania, a dog that dances, a teenage contortionist from India, and a selection of singers and rappers.

As the live Quarterfinals kicked off, judges Simon Cowell, Sofía Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum were thrilled to see how much each act had improved since their auditions, which took place from May to July.

Host Terry Crews announced a new feature for this season: for the first time, the Golden Buzzer award was introduced during the live shows. Sofía Vergara was given the opportunity to send one performer straight to the finals, with the other judges slated to have their turn in the upcoming quarterfinal weeks.

The identities of the three acts that will advance to the semifinals based on public voting will be disclosed Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.

Which performer received the Golden Buzzer?

In a preliminary video, the Tanzanian group Hakuna Matata Acrobatic shared, “What we do is dangerous. Each trick carries a risk.”

After addressing a previous issue with a flexible balancing board that complicated their audition, the group of four took a significant risk on stage. They demonstrated their talents by balancing on several stacked rollers while elevated above the rest of the performers, using music and choreography to perform other breathtaking stunts. Their finale featured one performer balancing upside-down on another’s head.

Their daring display earned praise from Cowell, who called it “one of the most dangerous acts on a live show.”

Vergara described the act as “perfection” and labelled it “one of the most ambitious performances I’ve seen on ‘AGT.'”

“I believe you don’t need any assistance, but I still have to do this,” she announced before pressing the Golden Buzzer, showering the audience in gold confetti.
