Engineers Revolutionize CO2 Conversion: Turning Emissions into Valuable Resources

A new electrode design developed at MIT boosts the efficiency of electrochemical reactions that turn carbon dioxide into ethylene and other products. As the world struggles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, researchers are seeking practical, economical ways to capture carbon dioxide and convert it into useful products, such as transportation fuels, chemical feedstocks, or even

Babe Ruth’s Iconic Jersey Set to Break Auction Records with a Potential $30 Million Sale

Record-setting Babe Ruth jersey could fetch $30 million at auction

Although there’s still some debate on whether Babe Ruth really “called his shot” during the 1932 World Series, the jersey he wore for that legendary moment is now a highly sought-after item at auction, potentially going for as much as $30 million.

On October 1, during Game 3 against the Chicago Cubs, Ruth stepped up to bat in the fifth inning. During this at-bat, Ruth seemingly pointed towards the outfield before hitting a pitch from Cubs pitcher Charlie Root out of the park into deep center field.

The Yankees secured a 7-5 victory in that game, thanks to Ruth’s two home runs and four RBIs, and they went on to defeat the Cubs again the following day, completing the Series sweep.

The jersey, a size 46, was worn by Ruth during the game and is being auctioned by Heritage Auctions, based in Dallas, from August 23 to 25.

“We know he pointed, but whether it was at the pitcher, the Cubs dugout, or if he was signaling a home run is still uncertain,” explained Chris Ivy, the director of sports auctions at Heritage. “That ambiguity is part of why we’re still discussing this nearly 100 years on.”

“What we can confirm is that this was the jersey worn by Babe Ruth that day.”

Other notable items up for auction include a bat used by Jackie Robinson and a jersey worn by Michael Jordan.

As the auction approaches, the initial bid for the jersey has already climbed close to $15 million.

Over the years, Ruth’s memorabilia has been in high demand, illustrated by a jersey he wore from 1928 to 1930 that sold for $5.64 million in 2019.
