Embrace Social Media Mindfully: Strategies to Alleviate Online Anxiety

Young people's mental health may depend on how they use social media, rather than how much time they spend using it. Psychology researchers tried an experiment with three groups. They asked one group to stay off social media. They taught another group how to use it more constructively. The third group stuck with their usual

Becky G’s Tour Essentials: A Family Affair, Nostalgic Beats, and the Wim Hof Experience

Essential Items for Becky G’s Tour: Family, 90s Hip-Hop, and the Wim Hof Method

Guided by her angelito, Becky G poured her heart into her latest album.

Titled “Encuentros,” her second regional Mexican album (available now) complements last year’s “Esquinas.” This project is a deeply personal endeavor, drawing inspiration from her heritage and the loss of her grandfather, Miguel.

“Having this angel in heaven has certainly driven this journey, and ‘Encuentros’ represents the next chapter,” she explains. The album cover features Becky re-enacting an old family photo as a tribute to her cherished abuelo.

Hailing from Inglewood, she describes the album as a more intense, “night” version of its predecessor. “We delve deeper, with more emotion,” she notes.

The 16 tracks of the album mark Becky’s return to the heartfelt regional Mexican style that defined “Esquinas,” featuring poignant lyrics and a rich sound that ranges from edgy corridos tumbados and emotional ballads (“Como Diablos,” “Ultima Vez”) to innovative blends and lively cumbia-pop (“Besándote” with Oscar Oritz, “Otro Capitulo”).

“Embracing my Mexicana roots has shaped my artistry and every aspect of who I am,” Becky explains.

During a Zoom conversation, Becky G opened up about what keeps her grounded on tour, from spending time with family to her favorite pre-show beverage.

Becky G’s Tour Welcomes Fans Back to Casa Gomez

Becky is about to hit the road again with her Casa Gomez: Otro Capitulo tour. This 18-city journey kicks off on Friday and serves as a follow-up to her debut headlining tour, Mi Casa, Tu Casa, known for its cozy vibe and a vibrant neon pink house set.

“The whole idea was to invite people into my home. Reflecting on my childhood, that was always so comforting. We share everything: our meals, drinks, and our homes,” she shares.

“Expanding this narrative with Casa Gomez to reach fans in other cities who might have missed the last tour was very meaningful to me,” Becky added.

Becky G’s Strategy for Beating Homesickness on Tour

Casa Gomez wouldn’t be the same without Becky G’s actual family.

“As a Mexicana, I value family greatly,” says Becky, who often brings family with her on tour. “I feel homesick often. I have been doing this from a young age. As the eldest of four, I know I should be independent and self-sufficient, but I still feel lonely at times.”

This fall, her cousin Freddy Quintana, a DJ known as Awsumo, will be joining her on tour.

“We’ve essentially been performing together since I was born, so having Awsumo on tour is crucial for me.”

Becky G’s Favorite Pre-Show Ritual Includes Tequila Shots

Before hitting the stage, Becky G hosts a round of shots for her band and dancers, a beloved ritual she refers to as her “favorite show warm-up.”

What’s her drink of choice? Patrón Silver, which she’s very familiar with. She recently collaborated with the brand on its latest Cristalino product.

For her dining preferences while on the go, she prefers traditional dishes like “arroz con pollo and frijoles or tacos.”

Despite her restrictions, she still craves a zest for life—albeit with some limitations. “It makes me a bit down because I can’t enjoy too much spicy food before a performance. So, after shows, I often have sopita in a cup with Tapatío sauce and plenty of lemon, which is super tasty. It’s especially good when you’re on a tour bus with few food choices,” she shares.

Becky G finds her groove with this hip-hop icon

You can take Becky out of her roots, but her roots will always be a part of her.

“I’m a huge fan of 90s hip-hop. It’s amusing; no matter where we are globally, you can always spot Awsumo running around the venue with a portable speaker blasting ‘California Love,’” says Becky G, playfully echoing the 2Pac classic. “We carry a piece of home with us wherever we go, and that’s really significant to us.”

This breathing technique keeps Becky G’s voice in peak condition

Every professional singer understands the value of proper breath control. For concert preparation, Becky G practices the Wim Hof Method.

“It’s essentially a breathing technique that helps you reach a point of breath retention, and I can hold my breath for up to two minutes, which is pretty impressive,” Becky explains.

Developed by Dutch athlete and motivational speaker Wim Hof, this method employs breathwork—a practice focusing on the conscious control of breathing patterns to improve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

“It effectively resets the nervous system and increases lung capacity,” Becky adds. “And of course, since I perform every night, keeping my lungs in top shape is crucial.”
