Pop icon Beyoncé to join Kamala Harris at Houston rally
WASHINGTON – Although she was expected to grace the stage at the Democratic National Convention, she never made an appearance.
This time, however, it’s official.
Beyoncé will be performing alongside Kamala Harris.
According to Reuters, the pop superstar is set to join the Democratic presidential nominee at a rally in Houston this Friday.
Harris is currently in a tight competition with Republican candidate Donald Trump and is traveling to Texas to support fellow Democrat Colin Allred, who is vying for the Senate seat held by Republican Ted Cruz.
As a Houston native, Beyoncé is anticipated to deliver a performance, and she will be accompanied by her mother, Tina Knowles.
It’s no surprise that Beyoncé is backing Harris.
Tina Knowles was quick to endorse Harris when she launched her presidential campaign. Harris’ running mate Tim Walz is also recognized as a dedicated fan of Beyoncé. Last summer, Harris attended one of Beyoncé’s Renaissance concerts near Washington, receiving complimentary tickets from the artist herself.
Further cementing their connection, Beyoncé’s team allowed Harris to use her 2016 track “Freedom,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, during the campaign.
The superstar’s ties to Harris sparked speculation at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last August that she would make a surprise appearance during Harris’ acceptance speech.
However, the much-anticipated surprise guest did not materialize – neither Beyoncé nor anyone else.
This time, the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer will definitely be there for Harris, ready to showcase her alter ego, Sasha Fierce.
