Which billionaires are backing Trump or Harris for the presidential run?
Billionaires in the United States are becoming increasingly influential in the presidential election of 2024. Notably, Elon Musk, the head of Tesla and SpaceX, has provided over a third of the funding for Donald Trump and various Republican candidates.
While Musk has publicly shown his support for Trump, including at a rally in Pennsylvania on October 5, other wealthy individuals are quietly backing Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign.
From January 2023 to October 30 this year, Harris’s campaign has raised nearly $998 million, as per Forbes, which includes funds collected during the Biden campaign. In contrast, Trump’s campaign has gathered $392 million during the same timeframe, as reported by Federal Election Commission filings.
Three centibillionaires are supporting candidates.
At least 83 billionaires are endorsing Harris, including two centibillionaires who each have a fortune exceeding $100 billion, while 52 billionaires, including one centibillionaire, are backing Trump.
Among the three centibillionaires, Musk aligns with Trump, whereas Bill Gates of Microsoft and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg are supporters of Kamala Harris.

Musk has contributed approximately $132 million to Trump and other Republican efforts in the 2024 election, according to Fortune.
Gates has given $50 million to Future Forward USA Action, a group supporting Harris, as reported by the New York Times. Bloomberg has contributed about $100 million to Future Forward, according to Forbes.
But Harris has more backing from other billionaires
An ongoing analysis from Forbes indicates that billionaires favor Harris significantly more than Trump.
