Unveiling the Brilliant Hues of Electrons: Insights from Electron Imaging

Surfaces play a key role in numerous chemical reactions, including catalysis and corrosion. Understanding the atomic structure of the surface of a functional material is essential for both engineers and chemists. Researchers used atomic-resolution secondary electron (SE) imaging to capture the atomic structure of the very top layer of materials to better understand the differences

Bringing Blocky Adventures to Life: LEGOLAND’s Parent Company Unveils Real-World Minecraft Experience

LEGOLAND’s parent company is bringing Minecraft to life

The popular video game, which is the best-selling of all time, is about to step out of the digital realm.

Merlin Entertainments has partnered with Mojang Studios to create unique Minecraft attractions in the physical world. Merlin is known for its LEGOLAND parks, Sea Life aquariums, Madame Tussauds, and other attractions, while Mojang Studios is owned by Microsoft, the creator of Minecraft.

As stated in a joint press release on Tuesday, the Minecraft attractions will offer immersive experiences and digital interactions, allowing visitors to access special in-game content that continues their gaming adventure.

The initial two locations are expected to open in the U.S. and the U.K. between 2026 and 2027.

“This will include innovative concepts for guest accommodations, retail, and food & beverage options, along with thrilling experiences such as a Minecraft-themed ride at Merlin’s locations in these two countries,” the release mentions.

More destinations are in the works for later on. Merlin Entertainments CEO Scott O’Neil revealed that plans include “theme parks and urban attractions in major tourist spots,” but did not specify exact locations. The initial investments for the first two attractions exceed $110 million.

“This first investment is just the start, following Merlin’s proven strategy of globally launching new concepts and platforms, similar to our approaches with LEGO, Peppa Pig, Sony Pictures, CBeebies, and more,” O’Neil stated.

This is the first collaboration between Merlin and a gaming brand.

O’Neil highlighted that Minecraft, which just celebrated its 15th anniversary this past May, boasts the largest gamer community in the world.
