What was Caitlin Clark’s scoring total today? Rookie leads Indiana Fever to a comeback victory
In her last game, Caitlin Clark set a season-best score, and in today’s match, she came close to replicating that performance.
Clark, a standout rookie guard for the Indiana Fever, stepped up towards the end of the game, helping the team secure a 100-93 comeback win against the Dallas Wings. This victory marked an impressive stretch for the Fever, who have now won four consecutive games and improved their record to over .500 at 17-16.
Clark recorded 28 points, although her teammate Kelsey Mitchell shone even brighter with a career-high of 36 points.
Clark started the game slowly—by her standards, that is—managing just five points in the first quarter-and-a-half. Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale stole the spotlight in the first half, making five three-pointers in the first quarter alone and accumulating 24 points by halftime.
Despite this, Clark made her mark in Fever history; by scoring her 595th point on Sunday, she broke Tamika Catchings’ record for the most points scored by a rookie in a single season for the franchise.
Ogunbowale would go on to equal a WNBA single-game record by hitting nine three-pointers. However, Clark and the Fever dominated in the final quarter, outscoring Dallas 30-19. Clark contributed with a couple of long-range three-pointers during this period, which proved pivotal for the Fever’s victory.
This game follows Clark’s impressive 31-point performance in the previous win against the Chicago Sky on Friday. Notably, this was the first time in franchise history that the Fever scored 100 or more points in consecutive games.
Caitlin Clark’s performance stats
During her 37 minutes on the court against the Wings, Clark scored 28 points on 10-of-19 shooting, including 5-of-11 from three-point range. Additionally, she tallied four rebounds, 12 assists, and one steal, marking her 12th double-double of the season, although she also had seven turnovers.
