Calvin Ridley Expresses Frustration Following Catchless Performance: ‘This Is Getting Wild’

Titans’ Calvin Ridley expresses frustration after no-catch game: ‘(Expletive) is getting crazy for me’

Calvin Ridley’s limited role in the Tennessee Titans’ passing game is causing major frustration for both the coaches and fans alike.

And it’s clearly affecting Ridley as well.

In a close loss against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, where the Titans fell 20-17, Ridley did not record a single catch despite being targeted eight times. He managed just one 9-yard run, marking a significant decline from his previous games where he totaled only two catches for 14 yards on six targets.

Dissatisfaction with Sunday’s game strategy was evident for Ridley.

“I need some (targets) at the start of the (expletive) game, too,” he told reporters while addressing his performance. “(Expletive) is getting crazy for me.”

“It is what it is. I played poorly today. I’ve got to improve. But I need to get the ball earlier in the game so I can be more engaged and contribute to the team effectively.”

At 29 years old, Ridley joined the Titans this offseason on a four-year contract worth $92 million, leading many to believe he would quickly become a key target for quarterback Will Levis in coach Brian Callahan’s passing system. Nonetheless, in five games thus far, he has only managed nine catches for 141 yards and one touchdown.

After the game, Callahan admitted that he needed to improve in getting Ridley more involved. He emphasized the importance of including their top player, saying, “We can’t win like that.” He echoed Ridley’s sentiments, noting that it’s disappointing not to utilize one of their best players effectively.

Despite the struggles, Callahan reaffirmed his confidence in Levis as the team’s starting quarterback, even though Levis currently leads the league in interceptions with seven this season.
