Capital One Addresses Customer Concerns Over Deposit Challenges

Capital One provides update on deposit problems as customers seek clarification

After several days of reports from Capital One customers encountering difficulties with receiving their paychecks and utilizing other account functions, many are still left uninformed.

In a statement to YSL News on Friday morning, Capital One indicated that they are actively collaborating with their third-party vendor to rectify the situation.

“Systems are in the process of being restored, but full functionality has not yet been achieved,” the statement noted. “We sincerely apologize to our customers for this ongoing inconvenience.”

Before Friday’s declaration, Capital One acknowledged facing challenges with deposits and payment processing for a range of clients, including individual consumers, small enterprises, and commercial banking partners.

On Friday morning, YSL News reached out to FIS Global, the service provider linked to the outage. They confirmed that access to the affected applications had been restored due to a recent power outage.

The company mentioned that it is coordinating with affected clients to complete transactions that were initiated during the downtime, stating that most, if not all, of these transactions should be processed by the end of Friday.

What problems are Capital One customers experiencing?

Customers began voicing their issues on Thursday. By 9 a.m. on Friday, nearly 4,000 had reported problems over the previous 24 hours, as per Down Detector. A significant majority—91%—of these issues were related to deposits.

This week, Capital One posted a message on X, previously known as Twitter, regarding the outage.

“We recognize the importance of having access to your funds when required. We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may create and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this,” the company tweeted on Thursday afternoon.

The post led to a surge of customer inquiries demanding explanations.

“What is there to fix?” one customer replied, expressing frustration over the prolonged nature of the resolution. “I haven’t received my money since Wednesday! I need to pay my (expletive) mortgage! I need gas for my car! My kids need to eat! I called and was hung up on after I provided my details! There’s clearly something very wrong!”

In response to another customer, the company referred to the issue as a “temporary” setback.

However, customers pushed back, pointing out that the problem has persisted for three days.

Some took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with a hint of irony.

“What’s in your wallet?” one user on X quipped, referencing the company’s tagline. “Nothing if you bank with Capital One.”
