Shohei Ohtani Injury Update: Dodgers Reveal Star Player’s Status for Game 3

NEW YORK — The Los Angeles Dodgers have good news.

After superstar Shohei Ohtani experienced a partially dislocated shoulder during Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated to ESPN that Ohtani is “in a great spot and will be playing in Game 3 tomorrow.”

Following the game on Saturday, Roberts expressed optimism that Ohtani had not sustained any severe injury, though the designated hitter did need to undergo additional testing for confirmation.

“The strength was great, and the range of motion is good, so we’re feeling positive,” Roberts mentioned after the Dodgers’ 4-2 victory.

Ohtani injured his left shoulder while sliding into second base during an attempted steal in the seventh inning and had to leave the field with a trainer after lying on the ground for a moment.

“The entire stadium fell silent,” said Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.

The Dodgers lead the World Series 2-0, with Games 3, 4, and possibly 5 scheduled for Monday through Wednesday at Yankee Stadium in New York.

Having signed a record-breaking $700 million contract last winter, Ohtani made history by becoming the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season and is expected to be the unanimous National League MVP. This marks his first appearance in the postseason, where he has recorded three home runs, 10 RBIs, and an .863 OPS across 13 playoff games for Los Angeles.

He has a batting record of 1-for-8 in the initial two games of the World Series against the Yankees.
