Eugene and Dan Levy Make Emmy History as First-Ever Father-Son Co-Hosts

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy to Co-Host Primetime Emmy Awards as the First Father-Son Pair

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, known from “Schitt’s Creek,” are teaming up once again, this time to host the 76th Emmy Awards.

This father-son comedy duo will co-host the ceremony, which will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. They will also be the first father-son pair ever to take on this hosting role in the show’s history.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the opportunity to host this year in a real theater was motivation enough,” they expressed in a press release on Friday. “We’re excited to toast this fantastic season of television and can’t wait to share the evening with everyone on Sept. 15.”

This has been an exciting year for the Levy family. Earlier, 77-year-old Eugene was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and joined the cast of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” in its fourth season. He remains widely celebrated for his performances in “Schitt’s Creek,” “American Pie,” and Christopher Guest’s mockumentary films like “Best in Show,” as well as his work on the beloved sketch show “SCTV,” alongside stars such as Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, and Martin Short.

Meanwhile, Dan, 40, made his mark as a writer, producer, director, and actor in the nine-time Emmy-winning “Schitt’s Creek” and the new Netflix movie “Good Grief.” In March, Eugene spoke to YSL News about Dan’s impressive directorial debut in “Good Grief.”

“It was beautifully crafted, wonderfully written, and expertly directed. His transition into a dramatic role after ‘Schitt’s Creek’ was impressive,” Eugene shared, praising Dan’s talent. He added, “My wife, Deb, and I have seen it three times now, and I’m ready for a fourth.”

The Emmy Awards will be broadcast on ABC on September 15, with a next-day stream available on Hulu.
