Flames Erupt Beneath Frontier Airlines Aircraft During Las Vegas Landing

Flames spotted beneath Frontier Airlines aircraft during landing at Las Vegas airport

A Frontier Airlines flight safely completed its landing after the crew noticed smoke and “declared an emergency” while approaching Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Flight 1326, which had come from San Diego, was “in the landing process” at LAS Saturday afternoon when “the pilots observed smoke and declared an emergency,” as stated by Frontier Airlines. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the emergency landing was prompted by reports of smoke in the cockpit from the crew.

Footage from the event showed flames emerging from below the aircraft along with a trail of smoke as it came to a halt on the runway.

“The aircraft landed without incident, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated using airstairs,” noted the airline, confirming that there were no injuries.

Officials from the airport informed CNN that the airplane “had a hard landing, resulting in blown tires.” The airport has not yet responded to YSL News regarding an update on the situation.

“Fire & Rescue teams extinguished a blaze on the right engine,” stated the FAA.

The flight carried a total of 190 passengers and seven crew members from San Diego, according to the announcement.

Following the incident, the FAA imposed a ground stop at the airport that lasted until 7 p.m. Saturday, as reported by CNN.

Frontier Airlines indicated that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The National Transportation Safety Board will also look into the occurrence, as mentioned in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
