‘Kudos on #2’: Habit Burger Takes a Jab at In-N-Out with Billboard Following Burger Rankings
Habit Burger & Grill is proudly celebrating its top position in a burger ranking survey, specifically placing it ahead of In-N-Out Burger.
In Los Angeles, many have noticed Habit Burger’s cheeky billboard message saying, “Congrats on #2, In-N-Out.”
This advertisement refers to a July survey by YSL News 10Best, which ranked popular burgers from fast-food chains. A group of burger enthusiasts and 10Best editors carefully picked the top contenders, and readers cast their votes. Habit’s Double Char secured the top spot, while In-N-Out’s Double-Double came in second.
The Irvine-based chain kept the playful spirit alive by sharing a humorous letter on its official Instagram, directed at In-N-Out.
“In today’s world, there’s a strong focus on winning. Let’s take a moment to honor those who come in second. The runner-ups. There are numerous burger choices out there, and yours just took #2,” the post read. “That’s impressive. So here’s to you, In-N-Out. Congrats on #2. From your friends at Habit Burger & Grill.”
In-N-Out Supporters Stand Up for Double-Double
This playful jab didn’t go unnoticed. Loyal In-N-Out fans quickly replied in defense of their favorite burger in the comments section.
“That’s amusing. Meanwhile, In-N-Out is always bustling, with cars lined up outside at every location,” one user commented.
“This ad is making me crave a Double-Double,” another follower remarked.

The Habit Burger Grill opened its first outlet in 1969 in Santa Barbara, originally named Hamburger Habit. Today, the Irvine-based chain boasts 372 restaurants, including 30 in the UK.

Established in 1948, In-N-Out opened in Baldwin Park, California. Currently, there are approximately 400 locations across seven states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Colorado.
