Inauguration Day: Essential Insights for President-elect Donald Trump’s Upcoming Ceremony

When is Inauguration Day? Essential details ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration

Inauguration Day is just a week away as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office for his second term, becoming the 47th President of the United States.

This year’s Inauguration Day coincides with a federal holiday: Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Trump has already appointed most of his Cabinet and various other positions in the White House.

However, this process has not been without disputes. Trump had to find a new candidate for attorney general, replacing Matt Gaetz after Gaetz withdrew amid controversy related to past sexual misconduct investigations, allegations which he denies.

Additionally, Trump is making headlines as he has become the first former or incoming U.S. president to receive a criminal sentence.

As Inauguration Day approaches, here’s what to be aware of.

What is the date of Inauguration Day?

Trump’s inauguration is set for January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

Recent updates on Trump’s transition

In the final days of the Trump transition, the president-elect has continued to issue warnings to major trade partners, including Canada.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Trump proposed new defense spending goals for NATO allies, gave a revised timeline for resolving Russia’s conflict with Ukraine, and did not dismiss the possibility of military action to take control of the Panama Canal and Greenland.

“We need them for economic security,” Trump stated. “The Panama Canal was created for our military.”

Trump has also indicated intentions to roll back numerous policies implemented during Biden’s presidency, including a new prohibition on offshore drilling along U.S. shores, and wants to revise the country’s foreign relations strategy.
